HOW TO SETUP MICROSOFT DEFENDER FIREWALL

The general purpose of Firewalls are to monitor device/host and/or network communications/traffic to detect malicious and potentially harmful communications/traffic and consequently block, log and alert the user accordingly.

Microsoft Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security provides device-based, inbound and outbound network traffic filtering, and blocks unauthorized network traffic flowing into or out of the local device.

Follow the steps below to enable Windows defender firewall on your:

Windows 10 device:

How to set up Windows 10 Firewall
  1. Click on the Start button then select Update & Security  
  2. Choose Windows Security and then click on Firewall and Network Protection
  3. Choose a network profile: Domain network, Private network, or Public network
  4. Turn on the Microsoft Defender Firewall Setting

Windows 11 device:

How to set up Windows 11 firewall
  1. Click on the Start button then open Settings 
  2. Under Privacy & Security, select Windows Security 
  3. Choose Firewall & network protection.
  4. Choose a network profile: Domain network, Private network, or Public network
  5. Turn on the Microsoft Defender Firewall Setting
