HOW TO ENABLE WINDOWS FILE AND/OR DISK ENCRYPTION

Encryption protects your files and data from unauthorized access. The level of confidentiality protection afforded by encryption depends on multiple factors including; the type of encryption used, the Key Size, how good the keys are secured, etc.

Microsoft windows devices are equipped with inbuilt encryption solution called BitLocker. BitLocker is used for file/data and/or disk encryption in Windows systems. BitLocker is a Microsoft proprietary disk encryption solution and therefore available for only Windows operating systems.

Follow below steps to enable Windows BitLocker encryption on your Windows client devices for file/data and/or disk encryption:

How to enable BitLocker File/data and/or Disk encryption
  1. Log into your Windows device with an administrator Account.
  2. Click on the Start button and navigate to the “Control Panel” by using the search function from the start Windows start menu.
  3. Click on “System and Security” from the Control Panel menu options
  4. Click on “BitLocker Drive Encryption” to access the BitLocker options
  5. Click on “Turn on BitLocker” to enbale BitLocker Drive encryption
