HOW TO SETUP FACE ID OR THUMBPRINT AUTHENTICATION ON ANDROID OR IPHONE

User authentication controls are the basic security measures for ensuring that only authorized users can unlock and access the data and applications on your mobile devices. Most smart phones are equipped with very seamless and easy user authentication methods which can be as basic as a simple pin to as complex as biometrics (that is; face ID or thumbprints).

Below is a step-by-step guide on how to setup user authentication for iPhone IOS and for Android smartphones.

How to configure user authentication on IOS devices

Apple devices can be configured to utilize passcodes or Face IDs. Face Id is a facial recognition feature that determines and correctly verifies the facial identity of the user before authenticating and consequently unlocking the device. Some IOS devices have Touch IDs which involves use of an electronic fingerprint recognition feature to unlock your Apple device.

The following steps should be followed when configuring authentication controls on IOS devices.

  1. Go to settings on your device’s menu
  2. For devices with Face ID select Face ID and passcode
  3. For devices with home button Select Touch ID and passcode
